Jennifer Johnson, PCLC, NCC

Welcome, I’m glad you’re here! I’m Jennifer, a provisionally licensed counselor (PCLC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) here at Sunflower Counseling. I earned both my Bachelor of Psychology and Master’s in Counselor Education from the University of Montana, and throughout my education and career as a therapist, connection has remained at the heart of my work.
Navigating everyday life, emotions, and thoughts can sometimes feel overwhelming or even defeating. Starting therapy can bring up a lot of different feelings, and my hope is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and free to show up as you are. We can begin wherever you are, exploring the experiences that have shaped who you are and making space for a deeper understanding of yourself.
I view therapy as a collaborative process in which you are the expert on your own experiences, memories, and life. My role is to support you as we explore how your experiences have influenced your understanding of yourself, honoring both the parts of you that you have always known and those you may be discovering for the first time. I have experience working with individuals and families across the lifespan, particularly those navigating complex trauma and the unique challenges that can come with diverse identities and backgrounds.
My approach to counseling is rooted in person-centered and narrative therapy. Through this lens, I believe we are shaped by countless stories throughout our lives, influencing our beliefs, emotions, relationships, and the ways we understand ourselves and the world around us. Together, we can begin to explore these stories, gently unpack beliefs that may no longer serve you, and make room for new perspectives that better align with your values, needs, and hopes for yourself. Rather than defining you by your challenges or experiences, I believe there is space to understand them in a way that honors your strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth.
As a member of the Blackfeet Tribe, I recognize the deep connections between our identities, cultures, communities, and beliefs, and how these shape our individual experiences. I value getting to know you as a whole person, including how you show up in your relationships with yourself, your loved ones, and your community.
I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you, hear your story, and collaborate with you as we navigate whatever you may be carrying. You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning. We can start wherever you are, together.
