Lydia Owings, Intern
Hello and welcome! I am a counseling intern and student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at UM. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from UM and am currently in the second year of my Master’s program in Counseling. I’m from Missoula and am so excited to be counseling in the community I love.
I primarily utilize person-centered techniques and conceptualize mental health from an existential framework. For me this means thinking about the universal stressors each person has to confront, the different domains of life stressors may appear in, and how those things manifest for each unique individual. I firmly believe you are the expert of your own life and that counseling provides a way of working with another person to define and navigate the things that are important to you.
Counseling is something every person needs at some point in their life. I am passionate about working with people that identify as belonging to religious, racial, ethnic, gender, and sexuality groups that are marginalized or minoritized. I have a special interest in working with neurodiverse folks and those that are experiencing mood disorders including anxiety and depression. I am also always learning and expanding and am excited to grow from new counseling experiences.
Payments accepted: Out-of-pocket is $35/session.
