Tomiko Torres, LCPC, ALAC

Life is hard, to be human is to have experienced suffering, and the fact that you are here and take steps towards receiving support in your healing is a testament to your resilience, and your courage. Change can be terrifying. We don’t need to do it alone. It is hard work, but it’s arguably the most meaningful work we can do. It would be an honor to walk with you on your journey.

I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years; the last 3 have been providing harm reduction therapy and exploring people’s relationships to substances. My theoretical orientation is humanistic and person-centered. I aim to create a rock-solid safe space, that is non-judgmental and supportive, and to create a collaborative plan where you choose your goals for our time together. I am trained in and use Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Harm Reduction Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.

I am passionate about the human potential for change, growth, and healing through connection and dignity. In pursuit of this passion, I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a bachelor’s in Psychology and Family and Human Development from the University of Montana.

I’m an Asian-American woman who lived in Tokyo, Japan for 6 years. Living in Montana for over a decade, I love backpacking, hot springs, and cross-country skiing. I am also a certified yoga instructor and have a small business creating jewelry. My favorite things are game nights with friends and family, concerts with my husband, and reading a good book with my cat Kenji.

Looking forward to meeting with you and supporting you on your journey.
